So I decide to feed my posting habit by trying out  The Democratic Underground" It's OK and there are a lot of posts due to the large membership.
I have some fun, post a few times, I mostly read, but I posted on the Zimmerman Killing of the 17 yf old kid,and a few other topics.
Then the Obama Executive Order was posted.

This is where I got in trouble.

I read it, and the Clinton version then the Reagan, and the original from 1950.
I read it a bunch of times and compare them to see how they have evolved.

I noticed that in fact President Obama is really doing a major expansion of his powers.
I think about this, and I realize this is the hat trick, the Check Mate we have all been waiting for.

This executive order effectively neuters the Republicans and Tea Baggers in congress. Gives him the power to stop voter suppression,and can neutralize Citizens United. It also allows for the imposition of labor regulations and it is a virtual nationalization of all industry.

This is very scary stuff, but...This is what we need to do to stop Republican unconstitutionality!

Yes I know it's radical, I understand that it is a maneuver, it is however legal, and within the Powers granted to the Executive branch.

The general consensus will be that he will only use it for this  or that, and it's only an amendment to  the 1950 original, the Reagan version, and Clinton's in 94. Republicans will freak to high heaven and scream Tyrant, impeach him, outrage etc... The thing is it's a lot more than just an amendment to the 94 version, it really does change the scope from narrow, to all inclusive. It is an unprecedented move and it does give Obama greatly expanded powers. This is due to the wording changes in the EO that in very subtle and clever ways transform a "mostly" defense related initiative, to a national recovery program predicated on the concept that "need" instead of "threat" is the core of The National Defense Resources Preparedness order. This is a big deal, and if Bush had done it we would all have freaked out like a lot of people will be doing from today until they actually see the results of this EO,

Back to my story

So I post on DU that I support Obama on this, and it's the only way to get the right wing boot off our necks.

Well the shit hit the fan. I was attacked immediately.

One attacker got his comment hidden, the other did not. Apparently one of the "jurors" agreed with the guy who asked me how much I got paid per comment so much that he reported me as a troll. Next thing I know I'm banned with no explanation.

I get a message saying I could appeal and if I don't hear from them in 7 days that means the appeal was denied.

Wow! These sites have no sense of posters being human. You don't even deserve a we deny your appeal, just no response and fuck you.

That's my rant. The moral of the story? Telling the truth gets you fucked, as usual.

Ok Ziggy tell me more about this so that I have a better understanding of what this really means -- from what you wrote it sounds like: "It [could be] the best of times, or the worst of times ..."  Spell this out for me in calm, sensible language so that I do NOT go off half-cocked and get scared about all the things that the wrongwingers are most assuredly GOING to screech about in the coming months concerning this  !

Okay so even the likes of Bill Moyers is having guests that say the NEXT wall st implosion is going to be even worse than the '08 version -- does this mean that Obama can nationalize the banks b4 the possible coming implosion 2.0 so that the pain and suffering is at least mediated?  Or is implosion 2.0 nothing more than wrongwinger fantasyland crap  ??

Hi Wolfess,

As I read it, the Executive Order is an amended version of an act that goes back to the 50's.
It's a National Defense Preparedness order.

What Obama did was to craft the order so that it includes not only defense, but anything national defense depends on.
By definition this means everything. Infrastructure, Education, Energy, Health, everything can be said to affect national defense.

There is going to be a big argument about what it means, but the meaning is pretty clear, what it does is it effectively potentially nationalizes all industries, property, and human resources for the purpose of National Defense during both peace and war times.

This is what I expected Obama to do after the 2012 elections to bring down the hammer on the 1%, he did it Friday night.
Most people will never read the order but if you do and pay attention to the changes on language from the Clinton version you understand what he did, but not what he intends to do.

The Clinton version derived it's power from National "threats" the new one draws it's power from National "needs".
This is a big difference.

Should we be afraid? Depends if you are a 1% or a 99%, 1% people should be afraid because Obama just declared war on the right wing agenda. The 99% can only benefit from this EO.

It allows for Obama to act when congress obstructs based on a need to act on behalf of National Defense.
It allows for instance for the dept of education to make and guarantee loans to schools without fear of default because the banks will be forced to guarantee those loans under the new structure that makes the banking institutions accountable to the Federal government based on a need to do x because not doing x would be counterproductive to national defense.
It allows for infrastructure projects to be commenced and hiring of employees to start ASAP.

It is an expansion of the Executive branch powers that is unprecedented. It gives The President similar arguably dictatorial powers like Roosevelt had during the depression.

If Obama is a secret plutocrat we are all fucked, but if he is who he actually is, it means the entire game just changed.

Keep in mind that any President can do the same, and also undo what Obama did by Executive Order.

The real upside is that this is the thousand pound piano now sitting over the head of every Senator, Representative, Governor etc..
As of Friday night it is the law of the land.

It's the mother of all executive orders, this, if I have interpreted it correctly is the blueprint for a Socialization of the US and a government that is driven by the needs of the people, instead of the perceived threats used to fear monger. It's the proverbial turning of the tables. From now on almost any inequity that there is can be addressed by this set of mandates if the Congress fails to act.

For example this completely eliminates the idea of the government defaulting due to Republicans refusing to pass the budget. It provides a rationale for single payer health care, and to answer your post that just came in it does tie the banks up and they are already nationalized for all intents and purposes.
