The reptards are coming! The reptards are coming!

Now, the reason I am up at 1:00 a/m is because my schnauzers decided at midnight it would be fun to go out and see what kind of creatures were roaming about in their backyard.  The minute they hit the deck they got down to business smelling everything -- in much the same fashion as they had the night I found Beelzebel (or one of her offspring) in the livingroom almost 2 years ago.  Naturally, I was expecting another garter snake to pop up in Frodo's mouth as that is usually my own personal sign that summer has arrived.
Persephone went over to the whiskey barrel and proceeded to dig through the sage to find out what exactly was in there that obviously didn't belong.  I went over and joined her just to see what she managed to turn up ... two minutes into digging around she yipped and left her project in a big hurry!  Well, that was just too much for me to pass up, so I went in the house and got the flashlight so I could find out exactly what was in there.  After finding a stick to poke around with, and a couple minutes of digging I hit 'pay dirt' ... we have a litter of baby bunnies!  And they are brand-new as they don't even have fur (I know this because I came in and googled 'pictures of baby bunnies.'  I'm going to have to be a conscientious earth grandmother and go out with the pups for awhile so they don't get the idea (like they did a few years ago) that welsch rarebit tar tar would be a good thing to dine on.

More on the continuing saga of the Beltane bunnies ...
At some point today while I was trying to watch all 5 'killer schnauzers' they did their thing :-(.  BUT ... I honestly did manage to save one of them.  I took some of their 'nesting material' with him and put him in the gargoyle fountain out on my front porch.  Earlier today he had managed to dig himself out of the nest that I hid him in, so when I went to see Mike I stopped by Pet Smart and picked up a bottle and kitten milk.  When I picked him up to give him some of the milk he squealed (didn't know they could, but glad he did) and a 'mama' bunny appeared out of nowhere, so I put him back in the fountain and went inside.  A few minutes later she was out by the tree in the middle of my front yard feeding him, and when she was finished she put him back in the fountain!  I'm a good earth grandma :-)!  I don't have to worry about him; I don't have to call the humane society to come and get him; I can just leave him be and realize Gaia really does know what She's doing!!!
Happy Fourth of July to all of you, AND mama and her Beltane bunny :-)!!

If you arm the bunnies with TNT, a few anvils, and women's clothing, I think they'll get along just fine. :-)

Or I could just walk softly and carry a big stick to protect them from my babies :-).

I'm tryin' -- gotta admit, I'm more than just a tad upset with the mama bunny for deciding to birth them in the backyard.  Altho ... I guess if they were in the front yard they would be susceptible to a lot of other creatures so I guess from her perspective, hiding them in the dirt of the whiskey barrel would sufficiently protect them from my 'killer schnauzers' :-)!
